You probably have a lot of questions for us, so we’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions for your convenience. 

How do I reserve you for my date?

All dates are reserved once we receive your signed contract and a 50% deposit.

Do you charge for travel?

Yes.  When traveling by car we charge $3.00 per mile EACH WAY (door-to-door) to locations over 30 miles from downtown Richmond.  These necessary costs are for time spent on the road.

When air travel is required, we charge airfare, lodging, meals and other associated costs.

Can we avoid paying sales tax or receive discounts, if we pay in cash?

No.  Cash payments does not exempt us from paying local sales tax, currently at 8.25%.

How long does it take to get my prints or albums?

Typically, print orders will be completed and delivered within 2-3 weeks after the product order is submitted.  Albums will be delivered within 4-6 weeks after placing the order.  However, getting to that process largely depends on how many revisions you request and how quickly you finalize the design.  This is entirely up to you.  This can be a week, a month or over a year.

What type of events do you cater to?

We cover graduation/commencement ceremonies, birthdays, fundraisers, grand openings, award banquets and galas, etc.  If you have other ideas, please contact us to discuss.

What time do you start and stop taking pictures?

We arrive 30 minutes to 1 hour before the contracted start time.  We start taking pictures at the agreed start time and photograph for the duration of the contract.

When and where can I see my photos?

Three to five days after your session, we’ll post a preview of your photos on the blog.  The rest of the photos will be edited within two to three weeks and uploaded to your online gallery where you can purchase prints and other items.  We encourage you to forward the link to family and friends and share your images with others.

Do you deliver every image you shoot?

No we do not.  The shots we do not deliver are typically unflattering shots of you or your guests.  So, we select the images with the best expression and archive the rest.

What kind of portrait sessions do you offer?

We specialize in natural light, on location photography and do not shoot in a studio.  All sessions will be at your home or location of choice.  We encourage you to bring your own props to show your individuality and creativity.  We offer a variety of different sessions for our portrait clients:

• Family – we combine posed shots and lifestyle portraits of you interacting with each other.
• Headshots – available for executives, actors and models.
• Other – have an idea in mind?  Please contact us with the details.

What is a lifestyle session or portrait?

Lifestyle photography sessions focuses on making photos from real life situations.  For example, when you take your child to the studio at the mall they will be put in front of a backdrop with props and asked to pose to create the “portrait.”  Whereas, a lifestyle session with us may include meeting you and your child at the park or at the place where this mouse sells pizza;) to capture them playing and interacting with you and their environment.  Our goal is to capture actual moments as they happen.

How do we choose a location?

The location is entirely up to you.

What should we wear?

For family sessions, we do not require that you wear matching clothing, but we do suggest that you all dress similarly.  You can wear something that reflects your personality and style.  Common colors like white, black, brown or gray and one or two brighter colors like red, green, blue, orange, etc.  More importantly, you do not want to wear something that shifts or distracts the viewers eye away from your face.

Can we include our pet in our portrait session?

Of course.  We do suggest that you please bring someone that will look after them.  We will try to take the photos that include the pet during the first 15 minutes to half an hour of the session.  Afterwards, we can spend the rest of the session focused on the family without any distractions.
